Anthony Paige envisions a proposed performing arts
center in the old sanctuary of First Baptist Church
of Lambert's Point. "When you can reinvigorate the
arts in a community, I think that's what begins its

Mount Pleasant Baptist Church welcomes 3 new Ministers
into the Ministry.
Initial Sermons on 12/9/07
Minister Jacqueline C. Boone
Jacqueline Cora Boone, daughter of Mr. Thomas and Mrs.
Elsie Boone, is a native of Norfolk, VA. Jackie is
honored that God has entrusted to her care her son,
Christopher Thomas Boone. She is the youngest of three
siblings Jeffrey Boone and Elsie "Tootie" Boone
Thompson. She attributes her Christian roots to her
nurturing family, especially her Grandmother Cora
Buffaloe Boone. Jackie is employed with the Commonwealth
of Virginia at Norfolk State University as an Instructor
in the Department of Early Childhood Education and is
the Program Coordinator at the NSU Child Development
Laboratory School. Her passion and gift is teaching. Her
academic accomplishments include a B.A. in Political
Science/Pre-Law (Norfolk State University, 1994), M.A.
in Teaching (Norfolk State University, 1999 Summa Cum
Laud), and M.Div. in Christian Education (The Samuel
DeWitt Proctor School of Theology, Virginia Union
University, 2007 Cum Laud). Jackie is active in various
ministries at Mount Pleasant and enjoys sharing her
talents whenever and wherever needed. She serves in the
Tutorial Ministry, Usher Ministry, as the Church School
Superintendent, and the Christian Education Organizer.
Jackie is grateful for the support and encouragement of
family and friends; yet, she maintains that all she has
done, will do, or will be is only because of a
Liberating Savior. Her mantra declares, "But by His
grace, I am what I am". I Corinthians 15:10.
Minister Lakia Perez
Lakia L. Perez was born to Wayne J. Parham and Santa
Perez on January 14, 1976, She is from Newark, New
Jersey. Lakia graduated from Our Lady of Good Counsel
High School in May 1994. After graduation she enlisted
in the United States Navy and has been serving for 13
years. She is a proud parent of two awesome boys Noel
and Donaven. Lakia attends Saint Leo's University and is
pursuing a degree in Psychology. Lakia became a member
of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in November 2003,
under the leadership of Pastor William L. Davis Jr.
Labia is on fire for the Lord and it has shown through
her determination and faithfulness to do the work of
God. It is also evident through her zeal and hunger to
learn the Word. She has completed the Master Life
Discipleship Class, and attended numerous leadership
training s. Lakia's journey here at Mt. Pleasant has
taught her how to be a disciple, teacher and leader.
This journey has also helped her to walk into her
calling. God called her to minister to his people by
empowering them and bringing his people to a place Of
deliverance; teaching them how to stay there through the
Word of God in order to become the person God has
created them to be. God allows this to be expressed
through the teaching of the Word, her gift in dance and
simply just loving people so they can see God's love.
LAKIA IS NOT WHERE SHE NEEDS TO BE, BUT THANK GOD SHE'S
NOT WHERE SHE USE TO BE. I will cry to God Most High,
Who performs on my behalf and rewards me [Who brings to
pass His purposes for me and surely completes them]!
Psalm 57:2
